Healthy Eating

We continue with our self-care journey by looking at healthy eating. This is a a confusing area. There is so much information out there in which we are recommended to become Vegans, count our macros, follow Paleo, intuitive fasting, Banting, count calories and so many more.

We need to carefully look at our eating habits and find something that would suit our needs, our likes and lifestyle and our income. We are unique beings with unique bodies and needs - discovering an eating program for yourself is tricky.

Here are a few things to consider:

  • health issues - diabetes, allergies, and other health areas.

    • Avoid food stuffs that would have a detrimental impact on these.

  • personal taste - it is definitely not going to work if you feel you have to eat food you do not enjoy.

  • expense - some of the recommended food is expensive

  • The ideal is to eat 80% of the time the best food for your body that would be beneficial to feed your brain and give you a healthy physical appearance.

  • Focus on a balanced eating program which is rich in fruits, vegetables, proteins and whole grains.

  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

  • Limit the following:

    • processed foods

    • Added sugars

    • Colourants
